15-year-old Rob Parks from Killaloe county Clare, the latest member of the Parks Motorsport dynasty completed his second season in the Ginetta Junior Ireland championship. Missing two rounds in during the season, Parks finished 4th, two positions higher than his 2016 championship

At the beginning of the 2017 season Rob struggled with power and a few other small problems but after rounds 3&4 the Vertical Racing Team managed to solve the issues and get Rob and the Ginetta back on the podium.

Mid way through the season it really started to heat up with the very talented Cameron Fenton and Patrick Dempsey’s championship fight as well as Christopher Grimes, Rob Parks and Megan Campbell battling for third.  Parks and Grimes were level on points going into the penultimate race weekend but unfortunately rob didn’t start both races which took him out of contention for third place in the championship.

Determine to get a podium position, Rob and the team focused on setup and practise leading into the famous Leinster Trophy weekend at the Kildare based Mondello Park.  Following a fantastic battle with Grimes and Campbell in race one, the Clare student secured the silverware he had worked so hard for, the 3rd spot on the podium.

Race two was less fortunate for as he had a spin coming out of the final corner which opened a gap too big to close in the space of time left.

“I think we had a good season” said Parks.  “The team are happy I’m happy with the podiums I got but I’m confident we can push even harder for the top step next year”

“Biggest of thanks to my sponsors this season. Without them I wouldn’t be able to do what I do and thanks to all my family, friends and teammate for their support this season”.
