Plans for a world class race track have been approved by Mid Ulster District Council. The plans were submitted last year, which include a 3.6km race track, pit garages, spectator grand stand and hospitality units.
The project is the brainchild of Manna Developments, a private development company. Their vision is to regenerate Coalisland through the creation of a world-class motorsport and training centre for Northern Ireland. The circuit will be branded as ‘Lake Torrent’ and will have a planned initial investment of £29million. The project will initially give employment for up to 500 people with 40 full time positions on an on-going basis.
‘Driven International’ have been appointed as the project race track designer and have created an undulating and exciting race track, which will ultimately work towards achieving FIA and FIM track safety licenses and be eligible to host major national and international events.
