Qualifying:

The first time Pa Hudson was introduced to the Pembrey Circuit was on Friday, the day before qualifying.  A lot of changes needed to be made with set-up due to the fast flowing circuit. Hudson got into the groove early in qualifying and ended the session on pole, 0.536 sec ahead of P2.

Race 1:

Starting from pole, Hudson got the perfect start down the main straight into the hairpin.  The perfect entry, clipping the apex ensured he stayed in the lead.  It was just a case of managing his tyres for the race and managing his lead.  Keeping a cool head, Hudson saw off the pressure from Mervin Miller at the early stages of the race.  Pulling out a reasonable gap, the Co. Kildare native crossed the finish line to take the race 1 win.

Race 2:

Race 2 was a reverse grid, leaving Hudson at the back of the grid.  With another great start, Hudson found himself in second place behind the Honda Accord of newcomer Tony Gallagher.  Gallagher made it difficult for Hudson and in true ‘Tin Top’ competition there was plenty of bodywork rubbing as Gallagher made his Accord as wide as possible. Eventually, spotting his opportunity, Hudson made a lunge into ‘Senna Esses’ to make the pass.  Hudson lost his rear bumper but made the move stick.  Hudson, with more pace, eased out a gap to take the second win of the weekend.

Speaking after the weekend’s success, Hudson said “We are thrilled with taking pole, getting the two wins and fastest laps in both races.  I need to thank my family and sponsors.  A special thanks to Philip Wright Motors, who has developed the car for me”.

The Tool Dynamics ITCC will be back in Mondello on June 10th / 11th for rounds 5 & 6 of this competitive championship.
