Griffin Hoping To Make Up Lost Points At Snetterton

British GT Championship, Oulton Park

GT Driver Matt Griffin is looking forward to this weekends 4th and 5th rounds of the 2017 British GT Championship that is taking place at Snetterton Circuit, Norfolk this coming weekend.

Griffin and regular teammate, Duncan Cameron will race their number 21 British Racing Green Ferrari 458, in two 1 hour races with the Spirit of Race team. After an disappointing 3rd round at Rockingham three weeks ago where the duo where stripped of their win, Matt is hoping to show everyone what they are made of this weekend.

“I am really motivated for this weekends British GT races. I really like the two 1 hour race format as you can just go max attack. The situation of loosing the Rockingham win the way we did has increased my motivation for this weekend and the aim is to come away with 2 podium finishes hopefully at least one on the top step” Matt explained.

The Irishman has been ultra busy since the Rockingham race competing in both World Endurance Championship at Spa where he finished 3rd and in the European Le Mans Series at Monza, where unfortunately he had to retire from the race with engine issues after qualifying on pole.

Matt continues, “my 2017 is very busy but so far I am in great form. I took my 2nd World Endurance Championship podium at Spa and also qualified in pole position at Monza. This all adds to my confidence for this weekend, I definitely want to improve our championship position but as usual I expect a super competitive field.”

There will be no rest for the Cork based driver after Snetterton either as he heads straight to France for the official test ahead of the epic Le Mans 24 hour race being held on 17th and 18th June 2017.
The weekend kicks of with two practice sessions on the morning of Saturday 27th June 201, followed by GT3 AM qualifying at 15.55. Sunday 28th June 2017 see the 1st 1-hour race at 11.40 and the 2nd at 16.00.
