2016 Irish Touring Car Championship Production Class Champion Jay O’Reilly is getting ready to move up to the main SuperTouring class for the 2017 season.

Dominating the Production class for most of the 2016 season, O’Reilly won four rounds and with the exception of a single 7th place finish spent the rest of the season on the second step of the podium, demonstrating that not only did he have the pace to win but the consistency too, finishing the season with a commanding 46-point lead.

With one title under his belt the Meath man will be aiming to challenge the Touring class regulars on slick tyres in his newly rebuilt PTG Racing Honda Civic Type R. At just 900kg it will be one of the lightest cars on the grid and with the fully forged 1.8 litre engine and 240bhp, one of the quickest.

O’Reilly has spent the Winter upgrading the car to get it ready for the new season. On the outside the car will be sporting new livery along with Ireland’s first Pandem rocketbunny tra-kyoto kit.

The 2017 championship takes place over ten rounds on five weekends with four visits to Mondello Park in Co. Kildare and one trip to Pembrey Circuit in South Wales. If O’Reilly can clinch the championship, he will become only the second driver in the series’ history to win both classes back to back.

Looking ahead to the new season, O’Reily says “2017 takes me on a new journey racing with the SuperTouring class in ITCC. We’ve carried out a lot of upgrades and modifications to the car over the Winter which should set me up as a front runner in the Championship. We’ve upgraded the gearbox with specified gear ratios and a plated diff. We’re also adding a new aero pack. It’s going to be a big change driving on slick tyres but I’m really looking forward to the challenge.”

“In addition to Precision Window Tinting and Graphics, I would like to welcome on board some new sponsors for this season – Parfit Ltd, NoVi Composites, 3M Graphics, DentMagic and Marc Quinlivan Photography,”

“I would also like to thank Philip Wright Motors, Rick’s Car Care, AutoStyling.com Ireland / UK, AP Performance, Stephen Miller Designs, Colin Monaghan and David Cassidy for their help in getting the car ready for the season opener.

“We are also delighted to be sponsoring this season’s Championship along with title sponsor Tool Dynamics”.
