The SEAT Supercup Ireland will continue its partnership with Yokohama in 2017, the high profile one make championship having already enjoyed two successful seasons working with the Japanese tyre manufacturer. Quick to pledge its support when the introduction of the SEAT Leon Supercopa based championship was first mooted at the started of the 2015 season, Yokohama has gone on to become a key partner providing invaluable support to drivers and teams. Flying in a tyre technician on race weekends as part of its trackside support, this level of commitment will continue to benefit the growth of the SEAT Supercup as a number of new drivers join the grid for the upcoming third season of the championship. In addition to technical support, Yokohama’s PR & marketing support has also helped boost the profile of the championship with the introduction last season of the Yokohama Pole Award a popular addition that will continue in 2017.

Commenting on the news that Yokohama will continue its support of the SEAT Supercup, Championship Manager Oisin O’Briain said, “Yokohama have been a huge support to the championship right from when introducing the SEATs to Ireland was nothing more than an idea and they have been a pleasure to deal with over the last two seasons. We are delighted to continue working with them for 2017 and look forward to having Simon (Clarke) as part of our championship team again this season. Being able to tap into his extensive tyre & set-up knowledge was greatly appreciated by drivers last year and it will be a big help to the new drivers joining the championship this season. We are also delighted that through Yokohama’s Irish agents, Murray Motorsport, we have also been able to reduce tyre costs this year.”

The 2017 SEAT Supercup Ireland consists of 12 rounds run over 6 weekends and will take racers to three different circuits. Running on Yokohama’s A005 slick tyre, each driver is permitted 2-new tyres per race weekend with Yokohama also supplying a controlled wet tyre for when the Irish weather does what it does best! Rounds 1 & 2 of the championship takes place on April 9th at Mondello Park when drivers will race on the circuit’s National track layout.
