Anglesey, UK – Monday 8th August 2016: Niall Murray has been the pace of the BRSCC British National Formula Ford 1600 Championship this year and has rarely been seen off the podium throughout. A double victory last time out at Brands Hatch put him in a commanding position at the top of the points table, but the Dublin driver knows all too well not to count your chickens before they hatch.

Having secured pole position from qualifying at four of the five weekends so far this year, Murray was pipped for the top spot this time round by fellow Irish driver Kevin O’Hara – the gap just under two hundredths of a second proving just how competitive this championship is at the moment.

Still starting from the front row, Murray was hoping he would still be able to get the jump at the lights. As the race got underway, Niall remained briefly in second exiting the first corner just before O’Hara ran wide gifting the lead to Murray. From that point onwards, the Murray Motorsport supported race leader would go on to set the fastest lap of the race and extend his advantage to over six seconds as the chequered flag fell after 17 laps of the picturesque Anglesey Circuit.

Starting Sunday’s race two from pole position compliments of Saturday’s victory, Murray once again found himself slipping to second at the first corner. Hot on the heels of race leader Jake Byrne, Niall carefully waited for his opportunity to cease the moment and return to the lead. Now in Byrne’s tow on the run up to Church corner, Murray expertly used the technique to slip into the race lead exiting the corner. Once again it was another text book performance from the Bernard Dolan Racing run driver, securing the fastest lap of the race on lap four while on route to opening up a winning margin of almost five seconds at the flag.

Niall Murray – #5 Bernard Dolan Motorsport Van Diemen RF99:
“It’s been another fantastic weekend at Anglesey in the BRSCC FF1600 Championship getting two comfortable wins and both with the fastest lap to extend my lead of the championship to provisionally 98 points! It’s also been another amazing job by Bernard and Sam Dolan to give me the best car out there. Being able to set the same time in each race that I did in qualifying shows how good the car is especially at an abrasive and hot track such as Anglesey. Thanks of course to my sponsors Murray Motorsport, CL Brakes, OMP Racing, Super B Lithium batteries, P1 : Digital and Fish Graphics. Next up is Donington Park in 3 weeks.”

Next Round:
Round 13 & 14 – Donington Park, UK, Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th August 2016.
